Job Description

Job Summary

The Test Engineer (Semiconductor) is responsible for developing, validating, and supporting test solutions for semiconductor devices across wafer-level and package-level manufacturing. This role works closely with design, process, product, and quality teams to ensure robust test coverage, high yield, and cost-effective test solutions from early silicon bring-up through high-volume production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain wafer sort and final test programs using ATE platforms such as Teradyne, Advantest, Verigy, or equivalent.
  • Execute parametric, functional, reliability, and system-level testing of semiconductor devices.
  • Debug test failures, analyze yield data, and perform root cause analysis related to design, process, test programs, or hardware.
  • Collaborate with design and process teams on DFT, scan, BIST, and test coverage optimization.
  • Support silicon bring-up, first silicon debug, and failure analysis activities.
  • Optimize test time, throughput, and cost while maintaining test coverage and quality.
  • Monitor production yield, binning trends, and test escapes using SPC and data analysis tools.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and transfer of test programs from engineering to manufacturing.
  • Support test hardware qualification and troubleshooting (probe cards, load boards, sockets).
  • Prepare and maintain test documentation, validation reports, and release artifacts; support audits and quality reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Semiconductor Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in semiconductor device testing, validation, or test development.
  • Hands-on experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) such as Teradyne, Advantest, Verigy, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor fundamentals, analog and digital circuits, and IC testing methodologies.
  • Experience analyzing test data using tools such as Excel, JMP, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Working knowledge of wafer probing, test hardware, and manufacturing test flows.
  • Experience with Design for Test (DFT), scan, BIST, boundary scan, or ATPG is a plus.
  • Programming or scripting experience (C/C++, Python, Perl, or similar) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with yield analysis, SPC, and high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Soft Skills & Expectations

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Clear communication of technical findings to engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, data-driven semiconductor environment.
