We value teamwork, integrity, and continuous learning, offering a supportive workplace with opportunities for skill development and career advancement.Position SummaryThe Lab Assistant will support laboratory operations by performing routine and precise laboratory functions to assist professional staff and facilitate efficient production. This role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals passionate about laboratory work and eager to contribute to a high-performing team.Key Responsibilities- Sort and receive specimens within the department.- Perform routine maintenance on selected laboratory instruments.- Centrifuge specimens, print extra labels, record data (e.g., temperature charts), and manage specimen storage and retrieval.- Prepare reagents and/or media as required.- Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including:  - Building worklists  - Aliquoting specimens into sample cups  - Checking specimens for clots and fibrin  - Inoculation and slide preparation- Perform assigned QA/QC duties.- Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples.- Decontaminate work areas and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.- Maintain departmental records and files.- Change gas cylinders as needed.- Adhere to all PPE requirements and safety regulations.- Utilize laboratory computer systems and operate PCs for data entry and retrieval.- Dispose of biohazardous materials according to protocols.- Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.- Perform additional duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.QualificationsEducation:- High school diploma or equivalent required.- Medical assistant training is helpful.- Math and science coursework preferred.Experience:- No prior laboratory experience required; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.Skills & Competencies- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.- Basic computer literacy; experience with laboratory information systems is a plus.- Effective communication and teamwork skills.- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.Why Join Us?- Supportive and inclusive team culture.- Opportunities for training and professional development.- Commitment to workplace safety and employee well-being.- Exposure to cutting-edge laboratory practices and technologies.We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
