Job Summary:

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining databases to ensure optimal performance, data integrity, and security. The role involves troubleshooting, tuning queries, managing backups, and supporting development teams with data-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade database systems (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Monitor database performance and perform tuning and optimization.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Manage user access, security, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with developers to design and optimize database schemas.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Automate database tasks and maintain documentation.
  • Plan and execute database migrations and version upgrades.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database design principles.
  • Experience with one or more DBMS: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MongoDB.
  • Familiarity with backup/recovery tools and replication.
  • Understanding of indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
  • Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL) is a plus.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, Shell, PowerShell) is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Certifications like Oracle Certified DBA, Microsoft SQL Server Certification, or AWS Database Specialty are desirable.
