About the Role

Our client, NextPhase Technologies, is seeking an experienced DevOps / SRE Engineer to join their remote engineering team. The role focuses on automating infrastructure, building reliable CI/CD pipelines, and supporting cloud-native microservices architectures with service mesh and API gateway integrations. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong scripting and systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation scripts in Bash, Python, and Go for infrastructure and deployment.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery.
• Support and scale microservices-based applications in cloud environments.
• Implement and manage API Gateways and Service Mesh solutions (Istio, Envoy).
• Monitor system performance, reliability, and incident response.
• Collaborate with developers and architects to optimize system scalability and availability.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and service-related issues.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience.
• Strong scripting experience with Bash and Python (Go is a plus).
• Hands-on knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, etc.).
• Familiarity with API Gateways (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
• Strong understanding of service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience supporting microservices in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with monitoring & observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).
• Solid understanding of event-driven systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
