Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Breakdown: parts and molds are broken down from mold tables onto pallets or loaded into the Pushout Press by use of a forklift. If required, the ingots are sequenced.
- Parts are removed from the molds by use of the large diameter pushout press.
- Cropping: The “hot top” of the parts are cut off from the ingot. The ingot is inspected for pipe and re-cut if required. The ingots are steel stamped with the heat number.
- Centerless Grinding or Rotoblasting: As required by customer specifications, the ingots are either surface (centerless) ground or rotoblasted. Centerless ground ingots will have any oxidized “skin” removed from the ingot surface.
- Spot Grinding: Hand (spot) grinders are used to remove any oxidized “skin” not removed by centerless grinding. Bottom (“butt”) ends are ground to remove any flashing or mold wash from the ingot surface.
- Final Inspection: All ingots are alloy type checked, checked for pipe tolerances, stenciled along their length, rubber stamped on the bottom end and packaged for shipping.
