Job Description
Title: Laboratory Assistant Duration: 3+ Months Location: Bentonville, AR 72712 Shift Timings : 2 pm to 10:30 pm Responsibilities: The laboratory assistant works with our senior staff to process lab samples, perform tests, and record and analyze results. Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests. Performs tests using general laboratory equipment. Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area. Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software. As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets. Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results. Records and explains test results. Reads and interprets results of tests. Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results. Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions. As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case. Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation. Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed. Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff. Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets. Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems. Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. Performs other duties as directed. Qualifications: 2nd shift measuring tech. Bachelors degree in a relevant scientific field and a good understanding of laboratory information systems and laboratory equipment. Sitting position using computer and tape measure. Training will be on first shift. Note : This position will require the tech to read a tape measure to measure points on a garment like sweep, sleeve opening, etc and then enter that data into the excel worksheets. We apply template marks to the garment prior to laundering in order for the wash department to determine shrinkage percentage. The person will need to have attention to detail as they will also evaluate the garment for any workmanship defects like broken stitching or open seams. Typically someone with some sort of sewing background excels at this position however not required. Basic needs are decent computer skills, basic data entry, sitting in an office environment, able to read tape measure (this can be trained if needed), productive and great attention to detail.
