Job Description

Job Title: Cytotechnologist V Location: Boston, MA – 800 Washington Street Duration: 6+ Months Contract Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Position Summary The Cytotechnologist will be responsible for screening and evaluating gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens to identify malignant or abnormal conditions. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and strict adherence to laboratory, regulatory, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens for malignant and related abnormalities. Perform screening of liquid-based cytology specimens (manual and imaged) as well as conventional slides. Conduct microscopic evaluation of cytological specimens in accordance with laboratory procedures and workload policies. Accurately document workload, including screening and non-screening activities, in compliance with CLIA and laboratory guidelines. Ensure accuracy and integrity in test performance, result interpretation, and reporting. Meet slide screening productivity requirements as defined by standard operating procedures. Enter and finalize test results in laboratory information systems in a timely and accurate manner. Provide backup support for cytology processing and other laboratory tasks as needed. Comply with all safety, infection control, HIPAA , and institutional policies. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university. Successful completion of an accredited Cytology program . ASCP Cytotechnologist (CT) certification – required . Prior experience in a cytology laboratory is preferred. ThinPrep certification is a plus. Must pass slide screening requirements and annual CAP proficiency testing . Strong understanding of cytology preparation techniques. Experience with automated and non-automated testing methods preferred. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) . Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to pass a standardized color vision screening .
