Job Description
Job Summary:
The Psychologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. Using evidence-based therapeutic techniques, the Psychologist provides counseling, psychotherapy, and psychological assessments to improve mental well-being. The role involves collaboration with healthcare teams, educators, or community organizations to support holistic care and promote mental health awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct psychological assessments, including interviews, standardized tests, and behavioral observations.
- Diagnose mental health, emotional, or behavioral disorders and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Assess cognitive, emotional, and social functioning to identify patient needs.
2. Therapy & Treatment
- Provide individual, group, family, or couples therapy using evidence-based approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy).
- Develop and implement interventions to address mental health challenges, improve coping skills, and promote behavioral change.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
3. Collaboration & Referral
- Work with psychiatrists, primary care providers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Refer patients to other specialists or support services when necessary.
- Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including assessment reports, treatment notes, and progress updates.
- Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and professional standards in psychology practice.
5. Education & Training
- Educate patients, families, and communities about mental health, wellness strategies, and coping mechanisms.
- Provide training or supervision to interns, junior psychologists, or counseling staff.
- Stay current with research, best practices, and continuing education in psychology.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology (MS/MA in Psychology, PsyD, or PhD).
- Licensure & Certification:
- Valid state license to practice as a psychologist.
- Additional certifications (e.g., clinical, counseling, school) preferred depending on role.
- Experience:
- 2–5 years of clinical, counseling, or research experience preferred.
- Experience in specific populations (children, adults, geriatric) is a plus.
