Nurse Midwife / Certified Nurse Midwife
Job Summary
The Nurse Midwife provides comprehensive healthcare services to women across the lifespan, with a primary focus on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, and gynecologic health. Working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, the Nurse Midwife delivers evidence-based, patient-centered care while promoting wellness, education, and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to patients
- Conduct labor and delivery management for low-risk pregnancies
- Perform gynecologic examinations, including Pap smears and breast exams
- Prescribe medications, treatments, and contraceptive methods as authorized
- Diagnose and manage common obstetric and gynecologic conditions
- Provide family planning, preconception, and menopausal care
- Educate patients and families on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians and healthcare teams for high-risk cases or complications
- Maintain accurate, timely medical records in compliance with regulations
- Advocate for patient autonomy, culturally competent care, and safety
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nurse Midwifery
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification from an accredited body (e.g., AMCB)
- State licensure and prescriptive authority as required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support certifications (e.g., ACLS, NRP)
