Kelly Science & Clinical is hiring an Animal Science Technician with one of our global pharmaceutical clients specializing in a variety of preclinical and clinical laboratory, gene therapy and cell therapy services for the Pharmaceutical, Medical device and Biotechnology industries to work in Wilmington, MA.
OVERVIEW
As an Animal Science Technician for our GEMS Breed Group in Wilmington, MA, you will be responsible for the well-being of our research animals. Your contribution will ensure the health of our animals, as well as impact the lives of patients across the world. The training and development offered to our entry level Animal Science Technician is best-in-class and designed to help you succeed. This is an entry-level position that will allow you to gain experience and begin your career in life sciences.
SCHEDULE
Work schedule is typically M-Th 6-3 and Fri 6-10 am OR 4 10-hour days OR 5 8-hour days
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintaining the quality and health of our animals, including providing their food and water and ensuring their environment is clean.
- Receiving, inspecting, and putting away incoming animals.
- Performing health observations, administering medications, taking blood samples, and giving injections while respecting protocols.
- Other responsibilities, including the restocking of supplies, may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to lift and carry up to fifty 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

- NO High School Diploma or GED required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly required to utilize a computer.
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly lifts and/or moves equipment and materials weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves equipment and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate colors.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, protective clothing, and eye protection.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work in a busy research environment, which requires use of sharp objects, working around mechanical parts, working with or near known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and/or biological hazards, exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
- Work with biological samples with risk or exposure to, zoonotic disease, and biohazards.
- The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderate depending upon the task being performed.
