Job Description

Job Summary:

The Operations Engineer (Oil & Gas / Energy) is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production systems, process equipment, and utilities within upstream, midstream, or downstream facilities. This role involves monitoring plant performance, optimizing processes, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing solutions to maximize production efficiency while maintaining environmental and safety compliance.

Operations Engineers serve as a technical link between field operations, maintenance, and engineering teams, ensuring operational excellence across refineries, pipelines, or power generation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize production and process parameters (pressure, temperature, flow rate, energy consumption) to ensure stable and efficient operation.
  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams during normal, startup, and shutdown conditions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions for equipment or process deviations.
  • Support process control systems (DCS/SCADA) configuration, troubleshooting, and performance improvement.
  • Coordinate with process, reliability, and maintenance engineers for equipment reliability improvement and predictive maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, API, OSHA, and local environmental standards through continuous monitoring and auditing.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and operating manuals.
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, and risk assessments for process modifications or new installations.
  • Collaborate with project and process engineering teams for capacity expansion, debottlenecking, and optimization studies.
  • Review process data using advanced analytics to identify potential energy savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Provide on-site support during plant commissioning, performance testing, and turnaround activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Energy Engineering.
  • 3–6 years of experience in operations, process, or production engineering within oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or power generation sectors.
  • Familiarity with process simulation tools (Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD) and control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA).
  • Strong knowledge of API, ASME, OSHA, and ISO standards.
  • Proven ability to analyze plant data and provide actionable operational insights.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, teamwork, and communication skills.
