Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide treatment interventions that help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence. The PTA assists in implementing individualized treatment plans and supports patient recovery and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in carrying out prescribed treatment plans
- Provide therapeutic exercises, functional training, gait training, and modalities as directed
- Observe and report patient responses, progress, and any adverse reactions to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, mobility techniques, and safety strategies
- Document patient treatments, progress, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to support patient goals
- Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to follow treatment plans and work under supervision
