Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer (Automotive Industry) is responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and improvement of mechanical systems and components used in vehicles. This role focuses on ensuring performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness of automotive parts, systems, and assemblies through CAD design, simulation, and validation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components such as engine parts, suspension systems, chassis, HVAC, and body structures.
- Perform 3D modeling and drafting using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or Creo).
- Conduct FEA and CFD analysis to validate structural integrity, vibration, and thermal performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, manufacturing, and materials engineers to optimize product design.
- Support prototype development, fitment validation, and design verification testing (DVT).
- Investigate mechanical failures and provide design improvements to enhance reliability.
- Participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA, and PFMEA for risk assessment and mitigation.
- Work with suppliers to ensure that manufactured components meet quality and performance standards.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (SAE, ISO/TS 16949, GD&T).
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing readiness for mass production.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in automotive mechanical design or product development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of automotive materials, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes (casting, machining, injection molding, stamping).
- Experience with FEA/CAE tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or HyperWorks.
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems (powertrain, chassis, body, thermal).
- Familiarity with DFMEA/PFMEA and APQP processes.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with electric vehicle (EV) components such as battery packs, thermal systems, or drive units.
- Knowledge of NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) analysis.
- Exposure to automotive validation testing (durability, fatigue, vibration, thermal).
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and component testing.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary and performance bonuses.
- Opportunity to work on innovative vehicle platforms and next-generation technologies.
- Collaborative environment with career growth in R&D and design engineering.
