Job Description

Job Summary:

The Test Engineer (Semiconductor) is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining test programs to ensure integrated circuits (ICs), wafers, and packaged devices meet design and reliability specifications. This role involves working closely with design, process, and product engineering teams to optimize test efficiency, support new product introductions, and maintain high yield and quality standards in semiconductor production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate test programs for wafer-level and package-level devices using Automated Test Equipment (ATE) such as Teradyne, Advantest, or Verigy.
  • Debug test failures, analyze data, and identify root causes related to device design, process variation, or test setup.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to define Design for Test (DFT) requirements and ensure testability of new ICs.
  • Perform parametric, functional, reliability, and system-level tests on semiconductor devices.
  • Optimize test time, accuracy, and throughput to improve manufacturing yield and reduce cost of test.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by transferring test programs from engineering to production.
  • Monitor production test performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (process, product, and quality engineering) to maintain test correlation and data integrity.
  • Prepare detailed test documentation including procedures, reports, and failure analysis summaries.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Semiconductor Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in semiconductor device testing, validation, or test development.
  • Hands-on experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) such as Teradyne, Advantest, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of semiconductor fundamentals, analog/digital circuits, and IC testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with test data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Excel, Python, or MATLAB).
  • Basic knowledge of wafer probing, load boards, and test hardware debugging.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with DFT, BIST, or ATE test program development.
  • Knowledge of C/C++, Python, or Perl for test automation scripting.
  • Understanding of yield analysis and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience supporting mass production or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to mixed-signal or RF device testing is a plus.
