Product Manager – Aerospace
Job Summary
The Product Manager – Aerospace is responsible for defining, developing, and managing aerospace products throughout their lifecycle—from concept and requirements definition through production, certification, and customer delivery. This role serves as the voice of the customer while balancing technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, cost, schedule, and business objectives.
The Product Manager works cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and program management to ensure successful product outcomes in highly regulated aerospace environments.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with company and customer objectives
- Conduct market analysis, competitive benchmarking, and customer needs assessments
- Translate customer and regulatory requirements into clear product requirements
Requirements & Development
- Own product requirements documentation (PRDs, MRDs, system requirements)
- Collaborate with systems, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams
- Manage trade studies related to performance, cost, schedule, and risk
- Support design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and technical decision-making
Lifecycle & Program Support
- Manage products through full lifecycle: concept, development, certification, production, sustainment
- Coordinate with program management on schedules, milestones, and deliverables
- Support certification and compliance activities (FAA, EASA, DoD, NASA, AS9100, DO-178, DO-254, etc.)
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
- Act as primary interface between customers, internal teams, and leadership
- Gather and prioritize customer feedback and change requests
- Support proposals, customer presentations, and contract negotiations
Business & Financial Oversight
- Support business cases, pricing strategies, and cost targets
- Monitor product performance, margins, and post-delivery issues
- Identify opportunities for product improvements and line extensions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in product management, systems engineering, or program management within aerospace or defense
- Strong understanding of aerospace product development lifecycles
- Experience working in regulated environments
- Ability to translate technical concepts into business and customer-facing language
- Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills
