Job Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. The SLP works with children and/or adults to improve communication skills and quality of life through evidence-based therapy and intervention.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Provide therapy services to improve communication and/or swallowing function
- Monitor, document, and report patient progress
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, teachers, and healthcare professionals
- Educate patients and families on treatment goals and strategies
- Maintain accurate clinical records in compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
- Ensure compliance with professional, organizational, and regulatory guidelines
- Stay current with best practices, research, and continuing education
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- State licensure (or eligibility) as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA (or eligibility)
- Knowledge of assessment tools and therapy techniques
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a specific setting (school, hospital, clinic, rehabilitation, or home health)
- Experience working with pediatric and/or adult populations
- Familiarity with assistive and augmentative communication (AAC) devices
- Bilingual or multilingual skills (preferred in some settings)
