Position Overview:
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive lifecycle management of multi-cloud infrastructure, from initial design and engineering to deployment and ongoing optimization. This role emphasizes FinOps principles to ensure cost efficiency and accountability, and requires expert knowledge in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud architecture patterns, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with development, architecture, and security teams to design cloud-native solutions and ensure seamless integration of applications with cloud infrastructure.
- Create and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions across multi-cloud platforms, primarily AWS and GCP.
- Lead Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to automate cloud resource management.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable application and infrastructure deployment.
- Monitor and optimize cloud spending by identifying inefficiencies, implementing cost-saving measures, and developing reporting mechanisms.
- Enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards to protect cloud environments and data integrity.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues, optimize performance, and ensure high availability of critical systems.
- Guide, mentor, and support junior cloud engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure, processes, and best practices.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and Tier 3 support for complex cloud-related issues, leading incident response and problem management.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in cloud technologies, with expertise in multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
- Proven experience with IaC tools like Terraform and CloudFormation, and hands-on expertise in major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
- In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash/Shell, PowerShell) and experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and ensure high availability.
- Deep understanding of core cloud components across multi-cloud platforms.
- Hands-on experience in cloud networking technologies (VPC, security groups, Direct Connect, subnets, load balancers, Route 53, Aviatrix, VPN, Transit Gateways, etc.).
- Experience driving FinOps best practices by monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing cloud spend.
- Strong mentoring and documentation skills.
