Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to perform blood collection procedures for laboratory testing, transfusions, donations, or research. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent patient care, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures on patients of all ages.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label specimens.
- Prepare blood samples for laboratory testing according to protocols.
- Maintain sterile techniques and follow infection control and safety procedures.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after blood collection.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in laboratory information systems.
- Properly dispose of biohazard materials and maintain a clean work environment.
- Assist with inventory management of supplies and equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
- Phlebotomy certification (CPT, PBT, or equivalent) preferred or required by state.
- Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and laboratory procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, or laboratory setting.
- Experience working with pediatric, geriatric, or special-needs patients.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
