Job Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to support the implementation of therapeutic programs that help patients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and working skills. The OTA assists patients in performing therapeutic activities, monitors progress, and helps improve their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in carrying out treatment plans and therapeutic activities tailored to patient needs.
• Guide patients through exercises, mobility, and functional skill-building tasks to improve physical and cognitive abilities.
• Instruct patients in adaptive equipment use and daily living techniques.
• Monitor and document patient performance, progress, and responses to therapy sessions.
• Report significant patient changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas, tools, and therapy equipment.
• Support patient education on rehabilitation techniques and home exercise programs.
• Assist in maintaining accurate clinical records in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and confidentiality (HIPAA) guidelines.
• Participate in team meetings and continuing education as required.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
