Certified Nurse Midwife

A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides comprehensive healthcare services to women, focusing on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, family planning, and reproductive health. CNMs deliver personalized and evidence-based care through a holistic, patient-centered approach — supporting women through all stages of life, from adolescence to menopause.

This role combines clinical expertise in obstetrics with nursing care, emphasizing education, prevention, and emotional support.

⚙️ Key Responsibilities

• Provide prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to women and newborns.
• Manage normal labor and vaginal deliveries independently or in collaboration with obstetricians.
• Perform routine gynecological exams, Pap smears, and breast exams.
• Offer contraceptive counseling, family planning services, and preconception care.
• Diagnose and manage common gynecological and reproductive health conditions.
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout pregnancy.
• Provide newborn care immediately after birth, including APGAR assessments.
• Counsel patients on nutrition, exercise, breastfeeding, and parenting.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation within the EHR system.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams for complex or high-risk cases.
• Promote patient education and preventive health practices for women’s wellness.
• Stay up to date with current midwifery practices, research, and clinical guidelines.

Education & Experience

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus in midwifery.
• Completion of an accredited Nurse-Midwifery program.
• 2–5+ years of experience in women’s health, obstetrics, or midwifery practice preferred.
