Job Summary
The Construction Project Engineer supports the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects by coordinating engineering, scheduling, cost control, and documentation activities. This role works closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and design professionals to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project planning, execution, and closeout activities for commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction projects.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts to support field execution.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project operations.
- Assist with project scheduling, tracking progress, and updating schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design requirements, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Support cost tracking, quantity take-offs, budget updates, and material procurement.
- Conduct site inspections and assist with resolving field engineering issues and constructability challenges.
- Participate in project meetings and prepare progress reports, daily logs, and documentation.
- Support commissioning, punch list completion, and project closeout documentation.
Requirements (Required & Preferred Combined)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in construction project engineering, site engineering, or field engineering roles.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Experience with construction documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and as-built drawings.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, cost control, and project coordination.
- Proficiency in MS Office, project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project), and document control systems.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety practices.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, site-based environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or EPC construction projects.
- Knowledge of quality control (QA/QC) procedures and safety standards (OSHA).
- Exposure to BIM tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
- Experience supporting LEED-certified or sustainability-focused projects.
- Willingness to travel or work on-site as required.
