Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team in Toronto. This role is essential in providing high-quality blood collection services while ensuring patient comfort and safety. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures with precision and care

- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of all specimens

- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation

- Follow infection control protocols and maintain sterile techniques

- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding collection procedures

- Handle and transport specimens according to established protocols

- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment

- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care

- Adhere to all safety regulations and quality assurance standards

Required Qualifications

- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program

- Current certification from CSMLS (Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent

- Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting

- Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques

- Strong knowledge of infection control and safety protocols

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations

- Proficiency in English (French bilingualism is an asset)

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems

- Additional certifications in specialized phlebotomy areas

- Experience in pediatric or geriatric phlebotomy

- Knowledge of medical terminology
